OFBJP-USA vehemently condemns the anti-national and anti-Constitutional decision of CPM led West Bengal (WB)
Government to provide 10 percent quota in the employment for the Muslim community under OBC category. Earlier in
2009, a similar law was enacted by the Congress led Andhra Pradesh (AP) government providing 4 percent reservations
to Muslims in jobs and educational institutions. Ironically, WB government’s decision of providing communal
reservations came on the same day as the AP High Court struck down the AP’s communal Act adjudging it as totally
anti-Constitutional.
A shameless attempt is being made by the Congress and the Communists to communalize the reservation policy and
divide India on religious lines. The last time such a BLATANT AND SHAMELESS ATTEMPT WAS MADE, it
resulted in the painful partition of the country. OFBJP expresses its deepest concerns regarding the communalization of
Indian society using the divisive reservation policy as a tool to create vote banks and unabashedly garner its votes.
Constitutionally, reservations were created to uplift the oppressed and deprived classes of Hindu community due to the
discrimination they had suffered over the ages. Non-Hindu communities have no such cast discrimination etc. However,
the Congress led UPA government in a sinister design to provide communal reservations as part of its vote bank politics,
created commissions headed by Justice Ranganath Misra and Justice Rajinder Sachar that tried to place Ashrafs, Ajlafhs,
Ansaris, and Arjal etc in the Muslim as backward classes. This is cunningly designed to avoid any adverse verdict of
courts striking down the religion based reservations.
Earlier, the Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan issued notices to the Congress led UPA
government seeking its response on this issue, it also asked the petitioner whether Islam permitted caste-system. The
following is the Supreme Court’s observation regarding “Castefication” of Muslim religion:
"Since when have the Muslims have started following caste-system? It is surprising. We thought that it had only
rich and poor divide. The assertion that caste system is practiced in Islam and that certain sections need
reservation is new to us," the Bench said.
Referring to the strict dictats of Quran prohibiting the practice of any form of caste system within Islam, Chief Justice
Balakrishnan said that there was no such discrimination on the basis of caste among Muslims in Kerala, his home state.
OFBJP condemns the vote bank politics and creating “castes” in religions where there are none.
OFBJP condemns the competitive religious reservations based vote bank politics as practiced by various political
parties even when courts are striking off such decisions terming them as anti-Constitutional. It is disgusting to
see the political parties’ desperation to find methods to outdo the courts decisions and constitutional provisions.
This will further aggravate the communal divide in India.
OFBJP requests WB government to withdraw its decision right away in light of Andhra Pradesh High Court’s
ruling.
India needs to be vigilant against such nefarious designs pseudo-secular parties to divide the Indians on communal lines.
We appeal to the Indian public to come out in the open against such attempts to divide the country on RELIGIOUS
LINES
